ENER-Plast

From design to manufacturing: Instruments for reducing the energy consumption & carbon emissions of the polymer industry & its supply chain.

The overall objective of ENER-Plast is to provide the European polymer & its supply chain industries with the information, resources & tools needed to reduce their carbon footprint & environmental impact. Across Europe businesses have been hit hard by the rises in energy costs over the last two years & the industry is now facing difficult choices as to how to mitigate rising energy costs. ENER-Plast will present a systematic approach to energy management & climate change & cuts through the many complexities to help companies understand & manage their energy consumption.

The ENER-Plast project will:

  • Provide tools to lead a company through designing a product to material selection & purchasing equipment to manufacturing.
  • Address the energy efficiency at each stage when developing new, or redesigning existing products or component parts.
  • Investigate new technologies, equipment & products that will reduce energy consumption across the whole process: from design to production.
  • Demonstrate the carbon footprint of a business, as well as how to make cost savings whilst at the same time reducing their environmental impact.

ENER-Plast will go beyond energy management, enabling organisations to consider both their operations & revenue in the context of climate change. The results will be cost savings, clarity of responses to existing & pending legislation, operational improvements, corporate reputation & brand enhancement.
