Links in the Midlands

Smithers Rapra is a delivery partner for a number of Midlands-based funding initiatives including the Manufacturing Advisory Service, Birmingham Research & Development Limited; West Midlands Technology Network, Polymer Cluster, & Advantage West Midlands. We have undertaken an extensive range of projects to support Midlands-based Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), from new product development projects covering material selection & design reviews, to providing advice on production improvement issues & failure analysis. Project objectives are usually designed to help start-up companies to grow quickly & established companies to be innovative with the development of new products.

National Funding

Smithers Rapra delivers specialist support to a variety of Government agencies including:

• Food contact analysis reviews on packaging for the Food Standards Agency.
• Polymer analysis for UK universities via the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Smithers Rapra works directly with the Technology Strategy Board on research projects & Waste Management & Recycling Programmes. We also undertake chemical analysis work & product testing for a number of other UK-based agencies.

European Funding

The European Commission provides a significant amount of money to support research projects under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). These projects are aimed at assisting various industries & sectors with carefully targeted funding.
