Specialist Rubber Plastic & Polymer Training
Smithers Rapra began delivering a range of training courses 30 years ago based on the credibility of being a world leading rubber, plastics & other polymer research & support organisation. It was not surprising requests were made from both industry & polymer material end users to share this knowledge.
The training was developed & presented by Smithers Rapra's own consultants & technologists who were all recognised experts in their individual areas of specialisation.
Today Smithers Rapra still offers an extensive range of courses developed its experience in industrial research & problem solving & delivered by presenters who understand the issues faced by people working in industry. Training is delivered on site at its laboratories located in Shrewsbury by the Consultants & technologists at the forefront of their own areas of specialisation. In addition each training programme can be delivered "in-company" at off site locations more suitable to the client, this could include their own premises or another chosen location.
Training can follow the program of the "standard" courses or modified to meet individual client needs. Smithers Rapra regularly develops training courses or programmes of courses specifically to an individual customer's requirement. Programmes have been devised for entire workforces or small groups such as a new Sales Team looking for the necessary technical knowledge to help improve sales performance.
Typical training groups include
- Management & Sales personnel
- Purchasing & Procurement personnel
- Product Designers & Engineers
- Quality teams
- Technical Service Personnel
- Setters & Technicians
Smithers Rapra can carry out on-site training using your processes, materials & your products ensuring the course is tailored to your individual requirements. This approach of focussing on your companies individual needs & business demands, provides a cost effective solution to increase the efficiency of your key resource – your employees
Prior to any bespoke training taking place a consultant will discuss your company's individual & business needs & will work closely with you to design a programme that meets the needs analysis.
iSmithers – The information business within Smithers Rapra now produces Smithers Rapra's short training courses, seminars & in-company training programmes on rubbers, plastics & processing technology. Participants in these courses may be involved with the production, conversion or design of products made from, or incorporating, polymer materials.
Courses on polymer processing technology include: injection moulding technology, injection mould design, plastics extrusion: single & twin screw, co-extrusion & multilayer extrusion for both pipe & blow moulding applications & sheet & film.
Materials awareness courses include introductory courses in plastics technology & rubber technology, plastics materials appreciation for product designers, the principles of rubber bonding, silicone elastomers & thermoplastic elastomers.
Smithers Rapra's list of plastics & rubber technology courses has been extended to include courses & seminars which discuss the legislative issues that impact upon users of plastics & rubber, whether these be Intellectual Property issues, EU directives, such as the Medical Device Directive, or wider legislation such as the Regulation, Evaluation & Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) or other environmental legislation.
In addition to regularly featured training courses which have limited numbers of participants, Smithers Rapra also offer training seminars; these special 'one-date' events cover areas of special interest or newer emerging technologies. Seminars cater for a larger number of delegates than a training course & offer the added attraction of creating a forum for delegates from companies throughout the supply chain to come together.
