Vibration & Dynamic Testing
Vibration testing is undertaken using either servo-hydraulic systems (high payload / low frequency) or electrodynamic shakers (higher frequency / lower payload.) Dynamic Mechanical Analysis is used to assess material properties over a range of temperatures, & low-rate data can be obtained using universal testing machines.
Vibration Testing
We undertake a range of vibration testing using our Keelavite servo-hydrauic machine, or Ling electrodynamic shakers, the latter of which can also perform shock testing
We can also test in vertical & horizontal directions, & are able to build the test jigs & fixtures required to mount & secure parts, body panels & devices.
Shake & Bake
Vibration machines are married up to thermal & climatic chambers in order to combine vibration endurance with thermal cycling environments. This is done on simple components such as brackets, finishers, trim items etc, functional parts such as headlamps, switch assemblies & transducers (often powered & monotored,) & cubby boxes, console parts & assemblies right up to full IP systems.
Dynamic Performance
Servo-hydraulic & universal test machines are used with rigid crossheads to undertake dynamic performance assessment on resilient parts such as elastomer mounts & bushes. We can characterise stiffness of polymer materials in tension & compression, & can measure properties at temperature ranges from -60ºC to +150ºC.
DMA & DMTA
We operate a Tritech 2000 DMA & a Polymer Labs DMTA, with which we can assess stiffness, loss modulus (damping) & tan δ characteristics at temperature ranges from -150ºC to +400ºC.
