Copyright-cleared documents from the Polymer Library

  • Virtually every item that can be seen on the Polymer Library database can be ordered from our document delivery department – that’s over 2.1 million pages of original literature!

  • A growing number of items (over 9000) can be downloaded instantly onto a PC in pdf format, from publishers such as SPE, CAMPUS and Rapra itself.

  • Other documents are photocopied and can be sent via e-mail, fax or first class post – whichever is most convenient for you.

  • We aim, and usually achieve, an order turnaround of less than 24 hours*, although many documents are despatched within just hours of receipt.

* Excluding week-ends and bank holidays. There may also be some disruption over the Christmas period.

The cost of ordering a paper from us depends upon the document ordered and whether you have a Polymer Library Account. If you do have an account you will make a saving of 30% on the processing fee.

The European Copyright Directive was implemented into UK law on 31st October 2003, resulting in an important change to UK copyright law.  Under this new legislation document suppliers can no longer supply a photocopy of part of a book or journal for the purpose of commercial research without charging a copyright fee. This change also affects all customers outside the UK.

Rapra Technology has been granted a Transactional Document Delivery Licence from the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) so that we may provide commercial copies in accordance with this new EU Directive. Hence, we will also charge customers a copyright fee. This fee will be forwarded to the CLA who will in turn forward it to the copyright owners.

Ordering Online

When viewing an abstract in the Polymer Library you will find an 'Order' button at the bottom of the page. If you click on this you will be taken through to our online ordering facility where you will need to enter your account number and password. The screen will display our handling charge and the relevant copyright fee. By placing the order you accept the charges as displayed.

If you already have the copyquest/accession number you may order the document online by entering our demonstration version of the Polymer Library. Go to the Polymer Library home page and click on the 'Entrance to Database' button. Use the ID 'demo' and the password 'demo' to take you to a screen that will let you enter the copyquest/accession number into the search query. If you have more than one number you can enter them all with a space between each one. Click on search and you will go through to another screen which should list all the documents you have entered. Put a tick next to the ones that you want to order then click on the 'Order' button. At this point you will be asked for your Document Delivery Annual Deposit Account number or your credit card details. If the combined copyright and handling charge for one document is in excess of £20 we will contact you for authorisation before proceeding with your order. For amounts under £20 we will fulfil the order without further contact. Should you require an exact quote please contact the Document Delivery Department as detailed below.
